I am always looking for fun traditions to do with the girls. While driving to pilates, the morning show I listen to was talking about doing an advent ACTIVITY calendars. We do the candy/toy advent thing every year, but I had never heard about the activity version until now. How it works, is you have a little note inside each envelope that tells you a fun holiday activity to do. You open one up each day, just like a candy advent calendar. Some of ours read, "make a snowman", "make hot chocolate", "drive around and look at Christmas lights", "make cookies with Daddy" shhh, don't tell him, he hasn't seen that card yet! hehe
Of course I decide to tackle this great idea 2 days before December 1st... when we need to start. HA!

Two days later, I FINISHED on time! hehehe WooHoo!
The girls LOVED it. Hopefully the board will stay together for a couple years :)

For those of us a bit brain-dead, could you post what some of the other ideas were? All I can think of is not fun ones, like "Make your bed"...LOL.I LOVE this idea!!And you did a nice job on how it looks.

- watch Frosty & eat popcorn
- make a holiday treat
- sing/dance to holiday songs
- donate food to local food pantry
- make presents for G&G
- make garland for the tree
- candy cane hunt
- play a board game
- have a Christmas Tree picnic (eating in front of the tree with just the xmas light on)
- dress up super fancy and go out to a special dinner
- build a gingerbread house and eat lots of candy
- make ice cream sundaes and watch Christmas Story
.....those are the ones off the top of my head that I think are in our calendar. They may be subject to change. heheh
